The present invention concerns a device and a process for preparing cavities in bone spongiosa for receiving implants. In order to create an instrument which will improve the primary stability, and thus in general also the durability, of subsequent implants, it is proposed that the instrument should comprise a threaded section (3), preferably slightly conical in shape, and a head (2) for rotating the instrument (1); the enveloping surface of the threaded section, in particular its approximately conical shape, the shape and inclination of the thread flanks, the transition radii between adjacent thread flanks, and the surface structure of the threaded section (3) are all so designed as to ensure that wall material from the bone cavity is forced principally towards the outside in a radial direction and as little bone material as possible is removed by the action of the threaded profile. |
