PURPOSE: To obtain a high grade image by making lubricating grains exist on a developing sleeve in the contact part of the developing sleeve where toner is not present with a toner layer thickness regulating member and the vicinity of the contact part. CONSTITUTION: The thickness of a layer of the silicone resin grains (lubricating grains) 19 on the developing sleeve 10 is regulated by the toner layer thickness regulating member 9 in contact with the sleeve 10, by its rotation and the silicone resin grains 19 remaining on the sleeve 10 are triboelectrified by the regulating member 9 and carried to a photoreceptor by the sleeve 10. Then, the photoreceptor is rotated once and stopped to complete a lubricant coating process, but the lubricant between the regulating member 9 and the sleeve 10 remains in the nip part of the regulating member 9 and the sleeve 10 and an N. E. part, so that the toner layer thickness regulating member 9 never has the occurrence of an abrasion and turning up, even in a state where the toner does not exist on the sleeve 10. |
