PICKING APPARATUS IN RAPIER LOOM

PURPOSE: To avoid sliding friction between a rapier band and a pressing member to improve durability of the rapier band by forming a rapier wheel so as to correspond to width of woven fabric without making the diameter of the rapier wheel large-sized. CONSTITUTION: Engaging holes are provided in rows in the longitudinal direction of a rapier band 4 in the rapier band 4 having a rapier head 23 fixed to the first end part. The rapier band 4 is put around a rapier wheel 3 in a state engaging with an engaging protruded part 21 formed on the periphery of the rapier wheel 3. Pressing rollers 24 and 25 are rotatably installed at a position corresponding to the position separated from the rapier wheel 3 and an endless belt 32 is stretched in a state incapable of engaging with the rapier band 4 among the rapier wheel, pressing rollers 24 and 25 and a tension roller 31. The outside of rapier wheel 3 having a part to which the belt 32 is stretched and the outside diameter of pressing rollers 24 and 25 are set so that reciprocating rate of the rapier band 4 coincides with the peripheral speed of the pressing rollers 24 and 25.
