Cable winch driven by three=phase sync. motor and gearbox

The gearbox (24) is fixed to the frame of the winch at the end of the drum (15) which is coupled rigidly to an output shaft (28). The motor (32) is coupled at one end by a clutch (33) to the input shaft (30) of the gearbox, and at the other end to electromagnetic brakes (36). The drum has internal stiffeners which alter its resonant frequency and reduce the noise of operation. These extend across the axis of rotation and are axially sepd. from one another and welded to the sleeve (17) of the drum.
