PURPOSE: To provide a lightweight punch which can be a substitutive for a sintered hard alloy punch, has high toughness and excellent scratch resistance and can removability after forming and contributes to speeding up of forming of seamless cans, such as drinks cans. CONSTITUTION: This lightweight punch for forming seamless cans having the performance equiv. to the performance of the sintered hard allay is formed by subjecting steel or cermet having a sp. gr. of <=10 to sintered hard alloy coating of a thickness of 20 to 500μm and the max. roughness of <=2μm of the surface or to ceramic coating in such a manner that any of WC, TiC, TiCN or TiAlCN having a thickness of 1 to 15μm and the max. roughness of <=1μm of the surface to form the extreme surface layer. |
