A power generator (1) including means (2) for generating heat and a machine (3) for at least converting the heat released into mechanical work in the form of the motion of a shaft (5). Said means (2) for releasing heat consist of a mixture (6) of non-carbonaceous gaseous materials capable of exothermally interacting, means (7) for generating said mixture (6), and means (8) for setting off an exothermal reaction. The machine (3) is designed with no internal combustion, and it includes an internal gaseous positive-displacement working fluid that is expandable when exposed to the released heat.
