SUBSTANCE: when input shaft 2 rotates clockwise, driven shaft 3 begins to rotate counterclockwise because it is affected only by gear 5 through free running mechanism 7. In so doing, gear 6 does not rotate driven shaft 3 because free running mechanism 8 is not in operation at this direction of rotation. When input shaft 2 rotates in opposite direction free running mechanism is not set in operation but free running mechanism 8 is set in operation and rotation is transmitted to driven shaft 2 from gear 6, which rotates counterclockwise. In addition, when gear ratio is unity and input shaft 2 rotates in opposite direction, the speed of rotation of driven shaft 3 is also constant.
