<p>The problem of loss of heat in waste liquid, for example from domestic washing, is alleviated by this invention, which extracts heat from waste liquid and stores and returns the heat to the supply liquid. This improves the thermal efficiency of any process using heated liquid, particularly where the flows of supply and waste liquids are intermittent and non-contemporaneous. The invention comprises an internal high-thermal-conductivity waste liquid transmission pipe (122), for coupling into the waste pipeline, and enclosed by a low-thermal-conductivity supply water reservoir pipe (29), the ends of which are enclosed by end-plates (120, 121). A cool supply injection means (127) is disposed in the reservoir's lower portion and tapping means (128) for warmed supply is disposed in its upper portion.</p> |
