PURPOSE: To obtain a solid-state laser machining apparatus by which an output is made directly proportional to the modulation factor of pulses without performing a complicated control operation and by which the output of an exciting light source is controlled properly by installing a frequency-modulated switching device by which the frequency of modulation pulses is changed so as to be output to the exciting light source from a power-supply part. CONSTITUTION: A frequency-modulated switching device 11 is constituted of a V-F converter 12 to which a prescribed control signal is applied so as to form a square waveform in a pulse width corresponding to the control signal and of a waveform-shaping circuit 13 by which the width of the pulse waveform to be output from the V-F converter 12 is made uniform to a constant width. When the output of an exciting light source is to be doubled, the frequency of pulses formed by the V-F converter 12 is doubled, the pulse width of a pulse train which is output from the V-F converter 12 and whose frequency has been doubled is made uniform to the constant width, and the pulse width is output to the exciting light source. |
