The invention concerns a process for the thermal treatment of mineral granules in a continuous furnace. The time spent by the granules in the furnace is selected to ensure optimal ceramification and the granules are spread out on an inert base to prevent clumping. The ceramified granules can be used as light sand in construction materials.
