<p>A continuous process for the preparation of a polybenzazole filament which comprises the step of heating the filament at a temperature in the range of from 100 °C to 290 °C under a tension of at least 3.5 grams per denier, but does not include heating the filament to a temperature of greater than 300 °C. It has been discovered that placing tension on the filament while it is dried increases its tensile modulus without a significant decrease in its tensile strength.</p> |
