Strip or wire composite material made of Cu or Cu alloy with a melt-coated layer of a tin alloy with an intermetallic phase forming between the two materials is novel in that the tin alloy contains 0.001-5 wt.% Co. Also claimed is a similar composite material where the novelty is that the tin alloy contains 0.001-5 wt. Co, 0.1-20 wt. % Bi and/or 0.1-25.0 wt. % In.
