PURPOSE: To make possible high-speed response with liquid crystal panels of a TN mode by superposing the first and second liquid crystal panels of normal white display and normally black display in the TN mode. CONSTITUTION: This liquid crystal shutter has the first liquid crystal panel 10 of the normally white(NW) display in the TN mode and the second liquid crystal panel 20 of the normally black(NB) display in the TN mode. The first and second liquid crystal panels 10, 20 are superposed on each other. In such a case, the first liquid crystal panel 10 is formed by sticking transparent substrates 1, 2 to each other via a sealing material 3, sealing liquid crystals 5 therein and sticking a polarizing plate 4 to the front surface. The panel exhibits a translucent state at the time of non-impression of voltage and exhibits a light shielding state when impressed with the voltage. The second liquid crystal panel 20 is formed by sticking the transparent substrates 11, 12 with a sealing material 13, sealing the liquid crystals 15 therein and sticking a polarizing plate 14 to the front surface and a polarizing plate 16 to the rear surface, respectively. The panel exhibits a light shielding at the time of non-impression of voltage and exhibits a translucent state when impressed with the voltage. |
