A gas cookstove comprising in its top face an opening forming a recess for accommodating a removable container below which is mounted at least one gas burner supported by a tray retained on the edge of the recess like opening and interposed between a casing and the bottom of the removable container, the cookstove being applicable to the cooking of any foodstuff in a container removably fitted into the top of the cookstove.
