Wear protection system for seal in cover on chamber of solid fuel grinder

The impact impeller of the grinder consists of a ring (3) which is connected by spokes to a disc. A hoop (4), which is mounted on the ring (3), is located in the gap (15) between the ring and a ring shield (13). The ring shield has a conical inner face which gradually reduces the gap between shield (13) and ring. Ventilation strips (5) are mounted at equi-spaced distances along the circumference of the hoop. The edges of the strips (5), which face in the direction with which the impeller rotates, lie at an angle of 20 to 40 degrees so that solid particles are moved away from the gap which leads to the seal (10).
