In printing textiles consisting of cellulose fibres, opt. mixed with other fibres, with reactive dyes, the base-releasing cpd. used for fixing comprises salt(s) (I) of satd. and/or unsatd. beta -alkoxy-carboxylic acids of formulae (IA) and (IB), where R<1>, R<2> = 1-3C alkyl or R<1> + R<2> = -CH2CH2-; R<3> = H or 1-3C alkyl; R<4> = H, 1-3C alkyl, phenyl or benzyl; Me = 1 equiv. of an alkali(ne earth) metal or an ammonium gp. of the formula NHA<1>A<2>A<3> (A<1>,A<2>,A<3> = H, Me, Et or C2H4OH). Pref. (IA) is the Na or K salt of 3,3-di(m)ethoxybutanoic acid.
