The apparatus generates an alarm sound for notifying a driver or a fellow passenger of completing the closing operation of the power window by sensing an overload in a power window drive motor. The apparatus comprises: a power window switch(10) generating signals for closing or opening the window by an up/down operation; a power window drive means(20) opening or closing the window by rotating or counter-rotating the drive motor(21); a control means(30) including an overvoltage sensor(31), a comparator(33) comparing the sensed overvoltage with a reference value, a control element(34) performing a switching operation, and an alarm controller(32); the alarm sound generator(40).
