<p>PURPOSE: To reproduce low delay mode picture without degrading reproducing pictures by setting the required delay amount of a decoder to zero, skipping a reproducing frame when it is required and reading a previous frame again at the time of decoding and reproducing the bit streams of prescribed encoded pictures. CONSTITUTION: The input bit streams of the pictures encoded at a low delay mode based on an MPEG standard are decoded in a decoding means 20 and written in a prediction frame memory 26 and read display data are outputted as the reproducing pictures. At the time, a decoder delay value is set to '0' in the delay value control means of a movement compensation picture reproducing part 35 by a low delay mode flag 60 from a variable length decoder 21. For long frame information I2 or the like for which decoding is not ended until display, the display is skipped in a skipping means, it is read after the previous frame P2 or the like is read from the memory 26 again and low delay picture reproduction without the degradation of picture quality is performed.</p> |
