The method for information exchange in the customer/server mode between station connected by a communication network comprises providing an emulated server (SEM) at at least certain stations (4), said emulated server being appropriate to dialog according to said protocol in order to process the requests for consulting the resource-files at the coupler (8) between the station (4) and the network; using the interception mechanism (INT) for intercepting the requests for consulting the resource-files, by redirecting them to the local emulated server (SEM); and using the emulated server (SEM) either as a cache memory to reduce the traffic or as a switch to mitigate and remedy the breakdown of a server.
