The invention relates to a method and a device to compensate and absorb impact energy in vehicles, by which kinetic energy of a colliding human body will be transformed into deformation and thermal energy, without causing bodily injuries. This objective will be achieved with inside and outside of the vehicle positioned and pressurized deflatable built-in structures. The value of the vehicle deceleration will be monitored by an evaluation unit, by which the deceleration data will be compared to the maximum allowable value of a forecasted deceleration. The evaluation unit will open valves to drain spontaneously the deflatable built-in structures if the absolute value of the measured data of the deceleration is identical or even larger than the maximum forecasted absolute value of the deceleration. The drain of the deflatable built-in structures will completely or partially reduce the volume and the pressure of the deflatable built-in structures.
