PURPOSE: To obtain a modified polyester fiber from a polyester composition containing the weak acid salts of an alkali metal and/or an alkaline earth metal as inner deposited fine particles. CONSTITUTION: A fine pore-formed polyester fiber is obtained from a polyester composition comprising a polyester produced from a dicarboxylic acid component and a glycol component and containing the weak acid salts of an alkali metal and/or an alkaline earth metal as inner deposited fine particles. The fine pore-formed modified polyester fiber is obtained by subjecting a modified polyester fiber to an alkali weight-reducing treatment to form the fine pores. The modified polyester fiber satisfies the below-described inequality, when A mole% of the weak acid salt of the alkali metal and/or the alkaline earth metal and Bmol.% of the metal salt of a sulfonic acid compound having at least one ester-forming group as a copolymerization component are added to the above dicarboxylic acid component. |
