A spring (22) acts between the bonnet (8) and the chassis (4), and is under tension when the latter is shut. It and the bonnet are mounted on the chassis via a common bracket, this being typically screwed to the chassis. The bonnet can hinge on the bracket via an elastic bush (30) and on a transverse axis. The spring can turn in relation to both the bonnet and the bracket, and can be of the curved leaf type on hinge pins (62), hinging movement being limited by a restricting component (24) with an oblong slot (68) for one of the pins and which incorporates a stop position (74) for the pin. |
