PURPOSE: To improve the energy density and life by using the powder forming a compound layer of the group III element on the grain surface mainly constituted of nickel hydroxide and having a specified specific surface area as an active material. CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution containing a compound of the group III element selected from Ca, Zn, Mg and an alkaline aqueous solution are added to a mixture of grains mainly constituted of nickel hydroxide and water, it is adjusted to pH 9-12, then it is heated at 20-60 deg.C while being stirred at the stirring speed of 40-300rpm. The powder formed with the group III element layer on the grain surface mainly constituted of nickel hydroxide and having the specific surface area of 5-25m<2> /g is used to form an active material. The slurry containing this active material, nickel hydroxide and a binder is filled in a nickel form, and it is dried and rolled to obtain an amorphous sintered nickel hydroxide positive electrode plate. |
