PURPOSE: To enable the repair and exchange of a diagnostic controller without affecting the operation of an information processing system. CONSTITUTION: When any fault not to be automatically recovered is generated at a diagnostic controller 4, it is reported to a service processor 5 that this device 4 is turned to a normal operation disabled state, and the processor 5 outputs a message. When a maintenance person recognizes the necessity of the repair and exchange of the diagnostic controller 4 corresponding to this message, first of all, a command is inputted from the processor 5 for saving constitution information to a disk inside the processor. The diagnostic controller 4, that receives this command, sends the constitution information of the information processing system owned by a constitution information moving function 10 itself to the processor 5 and saves it in the disk. The constitution information moving function 10, that completely sends the constitution information, next activates a noise suppressing function 7 and the noise suppressing function 7 suppresses an active signal so as not to affect a device, which is connected to the diagnostic controller 4, because of the fluctuation of signals when inserting/ejecting the live line of the diagnostic controller 4. |
