摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To provide an error rate measuring instrument which can measure the error rates with high precision. CONSTITUTION: The data received from a demodulator 12 are given to a decoding circuit 14 which calculates the number of error bits at both BIC and packet parts independently from each other. At the BIC part, a received BIC is compared with a prescribed BIC pattern as long as they are synchronized with each other and the number of error bits is calculated. If no synchronization is secured, the number of error bits is set at 8. At the packet part, both undecoded and decoded data are compared with each other as long as the synchronization of frames is secured between them together with success of their decoding and the number of error bits is calculated. If the decoding fails although the synchronization of frames is secured, an estimated number of error bits is set according to the number of successful packets acquired in the first horizontal decoding. Then a prescribed number of error bits is set when no synchronization is secured. The bit error rates are calculated in every measurement range based on the number of error bits and displayed on a monitor 28 at both BIC and packet parts. The packet error rate and the decided block rates of both block and frame synchronization are also displayed on the monitor 28.</p>
