A system for measuring and recording the contours of an object comprises a deformable and partly transparent pad (1), light source (5) and light sensor (6). Pressure applied to the pad is determined by using the sensor to measure the intensity of light shone through the pad. Preferably the pad is a transparent bag filled with frigolite granulate. The method for measuring and recording contours of objects using this system is also claimed.
