<p>PURPOSE: To detect the moment a material is bitten into a rolling mill and kicked out by insulating rolls or roll chock assemblies from housings and roll driving devices and checking electrification between the rolls. CONSTITUTION: The rolls 1, 2 are insulted from the roll driving devices with insulating liners or the like. Electric potential is directly applied to the upper and lower rolls 1, 2 with slip rings 21 attached to the ends of respective working shafts of the rolls 1, 2 otherwise, electric circuits which are connected to the rolls 1, 2 through bearings 5 are composed by apply potential to the chock 3, 4. A current flows simultaneously with the material 22 is bitten between the upper and lower rolls 1, 2 and the current is cut off simultaneously with the material 22 is kicked out. Consequently, by the presence or absence of continuity of the circuit, whether the material 22 is present or not between the upper and lower rolls 1, 2 is detected.</p> |
