The invention relates to a support for furniture, particularly for street furniture, comprising at least one leg (7) in the form of a hollow profile (11) defining a groove, this groove emerging through a narrow slot, and assembly means for assembling the piece of furniture on the leg, which have in cross-section a shape suited to that of the said groove and are received in the latter. According to the invention, the said assembly means comprise a solid core (25, 13) attached to a lateral face of the piece of furniture (1), projecting on this face and extending along it over a length such that it protrudes beyond a lower face of the piece of furniture down to an end (36) of the leg (7) intended to rest on the ground, this core being designed to support at least part of the weight of the piece of furniture.
