Highly flexible gas electrolysis and reaction system with modular construction

The gas lift electrolysis and reaction system consists of bipolar divided and/or undivided cells, 1-2.5 m high, gassing from at least one electrode. The system is of flexible construction and potentially wide range of applications. Electrode plates form anodic and cathodic half cells, with electrolyte inlets and outlets on the end faces. These are coupled with external separation and reactor systems. The electrode foundations are impregnated graphite, serving for anode and cathode. These may have applied metal or metal composite backplate electrodes, in electrical contact, on one or both sides. Alternatively the foundations may be plastic with metal, graphite or metal composite electrodes, on both sides, linked by contacts. Also claimed is a further system.
