The head comprises sections which can be added or removed to increase or decrease its width without changing the height of the machine. The sections comprise the main body (30), side cover (27) and intermediate cover (29). Sections can incorporate interior wearing inserts (32) to prolong the life of the other components. The main bodies can be joined with or without intermediate covers which have connecting holes (31) which allow the passage of shot directly between head sections near the discharge opening. Joining can be done with side covers which keep the movement of shot within head sections.
