PURPOSE: To obtain a composition for oral cavity which comprises a combination of table salt, baking powder and a specific bitter substance, thus masks the salt taste remaining as an aftertaste to leave a pleasant aftertaste. CONSTITUTION: This composition comprises (A) table salt (sodium chloride) (preferably of 200-300μm average particle size), (B) baking powder (sodium bicarbonate) of 200-300μm average particle size and (C) a chain terpenic alcohol or its derivative, for example, linalol, geraniol or the like. It is preferred that the content of component A is 15-20wt.%; component B, 10-30wt.%; the weight ratio of A/B is l/1.1-1/2. The content of the component C is preferably 0.001-0.1wt.%. After they are formulated together with oral vehicles in an ordinary manner, the composition is made into preparations such as tooth paste or the like.
