PURPOSE:To improve laser oscillating efficiency, by sequentially lighting at least one of exciting lamps, which are provided in a laser head, more intensely, and keeping the weak intensity of light emitted form the exciting lamp other than the intensely lighting lamp while this lamp is emitting the light. CONSTITUTION:Laser heads 1a and 1b, which are arranged in series, a total reflecting mirror 6 and an output mirror 7 constitute an optical resonator. Power source part 2 is connected to exciting lamps 5a and 5b in parallel in a discharge circuit. At least one of the exciting lamps 5a and 5b, which are provided in the laser heads 1a and 1b, is sequentially lighted intensely. The light, which is emitted from the exciting lamp other than the intensely lighting lamp, is kept at a weaker level than the light emitted from the intensely lighting lamp while emitting the light. During the weak excitation, or during the rest period of the excitation, absorption loss of laser material is hard to occur. Oscillation under the condition where adverse effect as a thermal load as a whole is less can be performed. Thus deterioration of oscillating efficiency can be prevented. |
