PURPOSE: To provide a document processing method and device making it possible to retrieve document data together for plural retrieval words and improving the efficiency of a retrieving work. CONSTITUTION: Plural character strings to be retrieved are stored as inhibition words in an inhibition word dictionary 9a and whether the character string matching with the reading character strings which are successively fetched from document data to a candidate buffer 8a and are composed exists or not is decided. When the reading character string does not match with all the inhibition words, this character string is moved to a standby buffer 8b. When the reading character string matches with any one of the inhibition words, at first, an image extension is performed for the contents of the standby buffer 8b on an image memory 8c and next, the image extension on the image memory 8c is performed so that the existence area of the reading character string within the candidate buffer 8a may be discriminated. Thus, when the image data corresponding to a page is extended to the image memory 8c, this image data is outputted to a printer. |
