<p>PURPOSE: To calculate an approximate transmission function which is precise enough for the automatic control of a process controller device in a simple calculation method by calculating each coefficient that prescribes the approximate transmission function based on each measurement value obtained from the step response of a process. CONSTITUTION: The process transmission function identification device 1 is provided with a divider 2, conversion modules 3 and 4, an adder 5, etc. The device 1 acquires the time t0 obtained from the step response of a process, the time T2n covering an inflection point or a tangent response through a 100% response, and the time T100 covering a 0% talent response of the set at an inflection point through a 100% response. At the same time, the device operates the time constants Da and Db and the dead time C based on those times to , T2n and T100 respectively and sets a transmission function shown in a prescribed expression at a transmission function setting type 2-freedom degree controller.
