PURPOSE: To provide a ceramic sintered compact excellent in toughness and corrosion resistance. CONSTITUTION: The ceramic sintered compact excellent in toughness and wear resistance is obtained by firing after mixing a silicon nitride raw material granulated body, which is formed by granulating into >=15μm to <=200μm after mixing a sintering asistant with the silicon nitride powder, with a β-sialon raw material powder, which exhibits β-sialon phase after firing, or a β-sialon raw material granulated body, which is formed by granulating the β-sialon raw material powder into <=200μm in average particle diameter. The ceramic sintered compact has a double structure, which has the region of a silicon nitride particle group 1 constituted of only a silicon nitride polycrystal and the region of β-sialon particle group 2 constituted of a β-sialon, and has a fine structure, which is formed by dispersing the silicon nitride particle group 1 having >=10μm to <=200μm average particle diameter expressed by equivalent circle diameter obtained from two dimensional crosstsection in the matrix of the β-sialon particle group 2 so that the area of the silicon nitride particle group 1 is >=20area% to <=50area% to the whole cross-sectional area. |
