PURPOSE: To provide an evaporator capable of holding sufficient strength even when the pressure of a refrigerant is increased. CONSTITUTION: An inlet refrigerant introduced through an expansion valve flows into upper inlet refrigerant tank parts 40 and is further sent to a refrigerant evaporation unit 50 (the arrows b). The refrigerant sent to the refrigerant evaporation unit 50 stays in inlet refrigerant tanks 53 communicating to one another in the refrigerant evaporation unit 50 and is then sent to outlet refrigerant tanks 54 through refrigerant evaporation flow paths formed individually among multiple plates 52. The outlet refrigerant tanks 54 also communicate to one another in the refrigerant evaporation unit 50, and the refrigerant staying in tanks 53 after partly evaporated is sent to upper outlet refrigerant tank parts 41 of a heat exchanger 20 and is further sent to a compressor (the arrows c). A reinforcing rib 39 is formed at the position where an end plate 33 seals the upper outlet refrigerant tank parts 41, thereby preventing the end plate 33 from being distorted. Accordingly, brazing in the vicinity of the sealed portion can be prevented from coming off due to the pressure of the refrigerant. |
