A method for the application of a top coat (12) to a plastic product (14) in the mould (1) in which said product is moulded in one process step, without a specific after-treatment also being necessary for this purpose, by first applying the top coat (12) which is to be applied to the product to at least one wall of the mould or a part thereof, on the side where the product is to be moulded, and then moulding the product in the same mould. The method according to the invention is based on the combination of injection moulding and the application of a top coat by means of electrodeposition.
