Bridge=laying vehicle with girders and rear arm

U-section girders (3.1-3.3) deployed within the main laying beam (2) have their top chord edge (4.1-4.3) level with that (5) of the beam itself (2), and the support ring structure (10) rotates on the vehicle turret ring (11). Each web plate (6) on the rear part of the vehicle is fitted with its own movable supporting roller (8). This rear part is equipped with a 180 deg-plus swivel arm (9) which, together with the retracted girders (3.1-3.3) and the superposed bridge sectors, lies within the confined defined by the front and rear ground angles of the vehicle. In detail, the girders are all telescopic and the rear web plates carry flanged advancers (7). The support is carried via swivel bearing (18) on the ring (10), and the girders are drawn in and out as required off a cable etc. winch (12).
