Herein is provided a method for removing iodide from aqueous solutions, and by this method, the iodide is converted into iodine. The porous granules of the metal polyvalent chelating resin containing zirconium peroxide linked to the chelating groups are put in contact with the iodide aqueous solution. The iodine is formed within the granules and is retained in them, allowing the aqueous solution to separate to create iodine. This iodine can be recovered by means of an elution with an organic solvent. The oxidative capacity of the resin granules, which is reduced, can be regenerated after removing the obtained iodine, by means of the contact of the resin granules with aqueous nitrogen peroxide. |
