PURPOSE:To obtain a compound-eye image pickup recording and reproducing device in which left/right video signals are compressed at a desired compression rate and the signals are recorded/reproduced. CONSTITUTION:Video signals from left/right image pickup systems 10L, 10R are processed by a video signal processing circuit 1, A/D-converted and written in or read from memory units 421, 422 by a memory control section 51. In this case, the signal is compressed by thinning out data in response to the compression rate set by a selector 3. The compressed data are D/A-converted via a selector circuit 43 and converted into a prescribed format by a recording and reproducing processing section 46 and then recorded. A reproduction signal is written ire the memory units 421, 422 from the recording and reproducing processing section 46 and read through expansion and D/A-converted from the selector circuit 43 and converted into a display signal by a display signal generating section 47 and then monitored. |
