The pin has a tough cover (5) which encloses a cellular and/or porous core. The cover has a break (6) through which a hollow element (10) is fixed, which projects into the interior of the pin and which is coaxial with it. The element is surrounded by the core material, and forms a part of the outer surface of the pin in the region of the break. The break may be on the upper end of the head (4) of the pin, and the element may extend into the region of neck (3). The element passes through the neck and into the bowels (2) of the pin, and may be shaped cylindrically or with a slight downwards taper.
