Sulphur removal from flue gas produced by a fossil fuel burning plant comprises spraying it with a limestone suspension in a gas scrubber. The liq. circulates evenly over all spray levels and fresh suspension is controllably added in the upper levels according to the sulphur dioxide content of the flue gas.
