The coupling (1) has a round first plate support (3), coaxial to which is a second one (5) sliding axially in relation to it. The supports have coaxial cylindrical first and second plates (4,6) fitting in the annular chambers (7) formed between them, the amount of torque transmitted being dependent on the amount for which the plates overlap in the axial direction. Inside the liquid-filled interior of the clutch is a multi-plate friction coupling (10) for torque transmission between the supports. This coupling can be activated dependent on the amount of axial overlap between the plates on the supports. The friction clutch can be formed by annular third and fourth plates (8,9) sliding but not turning on the respective supports, and overlapping alternately in the radial direction.
