PURPOSE:To provide a liquid crystal electro-optic element which lowers the dependency of light transmittance on angles without complicating a stage for a rubbing treatment. CONSTITUTION:Transparent electrodes 3, 4 are respectively formed on the inside surfaces of substrates 1, 2 and one pixel is formed of both transparent electrodes 3, 4. The one transparent electrode 3 of the transparent electrodes 3, 4 has the two transparent electrodes 3a, 3b. Both transparent electrodes 3a, 3b are insulated from each other. The positive electrode of a DC voltage power source 11 is connected to the transparent electrode 3a and the negative electrode of a DC power source 12 is connected to the transparent electrode 3b. The negative electrode of the DC voltage power source 11 and the positive electrode of the DC voltage power source 12 are connected to the transparent electrode 4 facing the transparent electrodes 3a, 3b. Oriented films 5, 6 formed on the substrates 1, 2 are subjected to the rubbing treatments of equal intensity in such a manner that the treatment directions thereof vary by 90 deg.. |
