The disk player includes a drive element. An optical head (6) is positioned opposite a disk moved by the drive element. A head drive moves the optical head backwards and forwards in a marginal read region. A further drive element (20) is moved by energy generated by the head drive. A cover is positioned outside the head region (6a) of the optical head when the optical head moves in the signal head region. The cover is moved into a position in which it covers the head region by the force which causes a movement of the drive element after the movement of the optical head into the edge position of the signal read region and the stopping of the optical head in that position.
