Process for the production of dianthraquinone-N,N'-dihydroazine

1-Aminoanthraquinone is suspended in a solvent mixture composed of an aprotic polar solvent and water in a weight ratio ranging from 80:20 to 99:1, and reacted by adding an alkaline condensing agent to the suspension. Thus, high-quality dianthraquinone-N,N'-dihydroazine having a very low impurity content can be produced in high yield.
