Image processing and inspection by extracting identification features

The image inspection and recognition method comprises a first step of extracting identifying features from an input image and constructing an identification image. A second step involves quantising the identification image and a third step calculating the similarity or difference of identification features of the quantised image by using reference data from learning images. Identification feature histograms for specific features are used, together with weighting, to generate weighted similarity or difference indices.
