A combined casting and rolling plant for metal strips

Hot rolling mill with an integral continuous casting machine consisting of roughing rolls (7) and finishing rolls (12), the latter having working rolls not exceeding 500 mm, in diameter. Typically a slab not thickener than 80 mm is cast and is rolled continuously through stands (7) and (12) to a finished thickness of up to 15 mm. Also claimed is the method of operation.
