The cup (1) has a thickened rim (2) which is tapered in shape, located within a segment of two circles of different radii but with a common centre.The thickened portion of the cup's rim extends for 1 cm. from the edge of the cup, with its thickness reducing from 1 mm. to 0.877 mm. The rim has lengthwise recesses to give it a toothed shape, and the inner edge of the cup is shaped to receive a polyethylene liner.
