PURPOSE: To decrease the number of copies which need be discarded because of poor quality in starting printing. CONSTITUTION: The process for producing the lithographic printing dry plate according to a silver salt diffusion transfer method includes steps for exposing an image forming element having photosensitive layers contg. silver halide emulsions and image receiving layers having a water permeable relationship with emulsion layers and contg. physical development nuclei on a base in compliance with images and developing this element by using an alkaline processing soln. in the presence of developing agents and silver halide solvents and further processing the element by using a neutralizing soln. having pH of 5 to 10.5 at 25 deg.C. The total concn. of this neutralizing soln. is 0.03 to 3mol/l and the neutralizing soln. contains compus. corresponding to the formula: NR1 R2 R3 [where, R<1> denotes 1 to 12C hydrocarbon group contg. a hydrophilic group; R<2> and R<3> respectively independently denote hydrogens or 1 to 12C hydrocarbon groups or complete a 5- or 6-membered ring together with the atoms with which these are bonded. At least two of the groups expressed by R<1> , R<2> and R<3> are aliphatic groups]. |
